The ‘Acorn Dinghy’
The 10’2″ ‘Acorn Dinghy’ was designed by Ian Oughtred.
It was built using the glued lapstrake plywood method and local woods like Rooi Els was used for the frames, floor boards and benches. She has a balanced lug rig with daggerboard and lift up rudder and two rowing stations.
Wooden Boat magazine quoted: “This is a dinghy designed for Seaworthy Service and multiple uses with good stability and carrying capacity for her length and the hull is easily driven. She is as versatile a vessel as can be found in this difficult to design size range.”
